WHO DOES OUR PROGRAM SERVE?
1. Public/Private Non-Catholic School Students: Our weekly Religious Education classes serve students attending public school and non-Catholic private school in grades K-8. Both First Holy Communion and Confirmation require two years of sacramental preparation, so please plan accordingly. Communion: 1st and 2nd grades. Confirmation: 7th and 8th grades.
2. Catholic School Students: Students attending St. Pius X Regional School or another Catholic school in grades K, 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 receive religious formation training for each grade within the programs of their school and therefore do not need to attend CCD classes. However, Catholic school students in grades 2 and 8 (the sacramental years) must submit a registration form.
*Catholic school students preparing to receive First Penance and First
Communion are required to attend the mandatory sacramental prep
sessions, Mornings of Reflection, and rehearsals held throughout the year,
as listed on the calendar.
*Catholic school students preparing to receive Confirmation must attend the special Wednesday evening sacramental prep sessions that will be held
in the spring (dates will be emailed when families register). They must also
attend the student/parent meeting, Sponsor Night, one-day retreat in the
spring, group service project sessions and Confirmation rehearsal (see
calendar for dates).
3. Homeschoolers: Families with students attending full-time homeschooling classes must submit a registration form in the sacramental years.
*For those in second grade preparing to receive First Penance and First Communion, their attendance is mandatory at the sacramental prep sessions scheduled throughout the year, as well as all rehearsals and Mornings of Reflection.
*For those in eighth grade preparing to receive Confirmation, their attendance is mandatory at the special Wednesday evening sacramental prep sessions that will be held in the spring (dates of these sessions will be emailed to all registered families. They must also attend the student/parent meeting, Sponsor Night, one-day retreat in the spring, group service project sessions and Confirmation rehearsal (see calendar for dates).
4. RCIC Candidates: We also welcome students into our RCIC program! RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation for Children) is a program for children ages 8 to 14 who have completed second grade and who have not been baptized or who are baptized in another Christian denomination, or who are baptized in the Catholic faith but were never prepared for Reconciliation or Eucharist. The program provides a comprehensive review of the essentials and key teachings of the Catholic faith and prepares the children for these sacraments.
