Duties:
Assist the ordinary ministers (priests and deacons) with distribution of the Eucharist when needed. Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion may also be trained to bring the Eucharist to the homebound.
Time:
As assigned by scheduler (arrive 15 minutes prior to Mass). Initial training and on-going formation sessions by the Archdiocese's Office of Worship and the parish (at least every three years). Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are expected to have a deep reverence for the Eucharist, a strong prayer life and regular periods of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.
Special Skills: Love and reverence for the Eucharist; ease in public settings; Catholic in good standing who has received the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist).
