Week of September 10th - Brief Atrium Visits (Optional)
Level I only. Sign up for a 10 minute slot for your child to see the atrium and meet his or her catechist prior to the first day. This is recommended for young children who have never participated in a drop-off program, are shy, or have separation anxiety difficulties. Sign up here.
September 14th, 6:00 - 7:30 pm - Mandatory New Parent Meeting
Level II/III Atrium
A brief overview of the spirituality of the child, the basics of the Montessori and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd approach to education, and expectations for the year. At least one parent must be present. Please inquire if childcare is needed, open to all atrium parents.
Week of September 17th - First Day of Atrium for New Children
If your child has never been in any level of atrium before, the first two weeks are an orientation:
New Level I children start slowly with a 45 minute session the first week and 1 hour 15 minutes the second week.
New Level II and III children attend for 1.5 hours both of the first two weeks to receive foundational presentations that were missed with earlier levels.
Week of October 1st - First Day of Atrium for Returning Children
(full two-hour sessions)
Week of October 22nd - Circle of Grace Safe Environment Training
Required by the Archdiocese, children will receive age-appropriate lessons on their personal space (the Circle of Grace that God gives us), how to identify, discern and maintain appropriate boundaries, identify boundary violations, and how to take action if boundaries are violated or threatened. Attendance is mandatory for all children. Children who cannot attend their regular atrium session this week must make it up at either a different atrium session or the traditional CCD session. More details about Circle of Grace will be emailed to parents at a later date.
